Did you know “sukha” in Sanskrit means happiness? That was among the many discoveries Beth Chai congregants made at the recent Montgomery County Unity Walk.
The Faith Community Advisory Council leads other groups and a collection of congregations in its Unity Walk every other year to encourage interactions among the county’s diverse and vibrant faith communities. Beth Chai was the first Jewish Humanist congregation to participate. We joined Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, and Muslim communities at the event. More than a dozen Beth Chai members, including Rabbi Cohen, came out early Sunday morning to erect, decorate, and welcome visitors into our Sukkah on the beautiful grounds of the Chinmaya Mission.
Rabbi David Shneyer of Am Kolel joined us to share the power and beauty of the sukkot ritual with our appreciative neighbors.
