I’ve been a bit remiss in writing about the comings and goings of Beth Chai. But this rainy day has my fingers at the keyboard, reminiscing about the fun events in our community over the last couple of months.
A highlight was the wonderful and jovial Chanukah party hosted at the home of Oona Stieglitz and Lee Arbetman. Oona, Lee and their daughters were the consummate hosts. They futzed about, making sure everyone was fed, happy, and entertained.
Just like at all of our events, no one went hungry. In addition to the potluck fare, we were treated to wonderful Afghani dishes, catered by our sponsored family. One word: scrumptious!
Oona and Lee’s living room was alight with dozens of menorahs brought by various congregants. The beautiful space was filled with warmth, candlelight, and songs and stories lead by our amazing cantor Susan-Lisa Gvinter and the talented Rabbi Debbie Cohen. Dreidels, crafts, food, fun, and friends, filled the evening. What could be better?
The grand finale of the night, concluded with an outbreak of Broadway music, led on the piano by Lee and accompanied in song by Susan-Lisa. Somehow, I think Lee may have had this up his sleeve all along; he just needed the perfect partner in crime and Susan-Lisa couldn’t have been better!
Happy New Year to all and best of wishes for the year to come!
