We raised more than $10,000 for our Afghan refugee family! Thank you to all who contributed, and to the anonymous donor who matched our contributions. What a wonderful gift.
What our family needs the most is a car. This will have the dual purpose of helping the family get around and providing a livelihood, as our dad has been approved to drive with Lyft.
We are hoping to get a car donated, but if not, we will use some of the money we raised to buy a used vehicle.
To that end, please share this to your neighborhood mailing lists:
Can you donate a car to help a refugee family? Beth Chai Jewish Humanist Congregation is supporting an Afghan refugee family of five. The dad is working, but he needs a car to get to work and for extra income to make ends meet. Our partner resettlement agency, Lutheran Social Services, will facilitate the transaction and will provide a tax receipt if we are able to find a car for the family. We would especially like a car from 2007 or newer. Does it need a little work to get back into running order, new tires, etc.? Not a problem, just call Lisa at 240-994-0125. Thanks in advance for your help, good and generous neighbors!
